Personas
Project: Personas
My role: UX designer
Tools: Post-it, voice recorder, pencil & paper, Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
Date: 2018 and 2019
Overview: This set of Personas represent all users of all products in TableSafe.Inc

Why did I do this set of Personas?
When I was onboard on TableSafe.Inc, I noticed our products are awesome but there were no Personas in the engineering department. The first thing I did was introduce Personas to the engineering department because

“If the user is having a problem, it is our problem.”
– Steven Jobs, co-founder of Apple computers
TableSafe.Inc products and their users
User Interviews
When I had a basic concept of our products and their users, I made a list of people I wanted to interview and created a set of interview questions for each user group. The interviewees were selected for either their first-hand experience using the product or for their experience assisting the users of the proucts.

I conducted the user interviews in three places:
      Onsite at TableSafe;
      "Emory's on Silver Lake" restaurant;
      Our manufacture's (ATS Component Services ) facility.

User Observation
In order to understand how the users use our products, I conducted a “User Observation” on “Emory’s on Silver Lake” restaurant (Everett), “Elliott’s Oyster House” restaurant (Seattle) and ATS Component Services (Everett).
User Research
To collect and understand the users, I did user research online for all of our products’ customers.
Usability Tests
I conducted usability tests on the users to gather more information.
User Analysis
I used Post-It, pencil and paper and Microsoft Word to analyze the information I collected via different channels.
Define the users
Here is the process showing how I defined the users and environment from the massive amount of information I collected.

I divided the information into 6 user groups and created personas for each:
    Restaurants
    Server Team
    Management Team
    Owners of the restaurant
    Guests
   Channel partner/ support team/ IT team

I created Personas Anthony to represent the user group of the Channel partner/support team/ IT team. Then from the “Restaurants” group, I created three restaurants to represent the users and our products’ working environment. Next, Combined “Restaurants” and “Server Team” group, I created three personas to represent each user group in each restaurant; Combined “Restaurants” and “Management Team” group, I created three personas to represent each user group in each restaurant; Combined “Restaurants” and “Restaurant Owners” group, I created three personas to represent each user group in each restaurant.

Update
I had kept updating the personas as needed and added more personas as needed.
REFLECTION
Keeping your eye on the user and the never-ending changes in their behavior helped us keep our products easy to use and leaves them with a good experience.
