As teased ealier, here is a new and "augmented" iteration of the previously posted map for the commuter rail services in the Tanzanian city of Dar Es Salaam, now also including the currently operating Phase I of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) scheme being implemented in the area

Phase I came into service in May 2016 and consists of seven trunk routes sharing 21kms of segregated right-of-way corridors serving 32 stations -plus an additional 58kms of feeder lines from Gerezani to Muhimbili and from Kimara to Mbezi which do not use separated ROW

If everything unfolds as planned, the BRT system is set to be dramatically expanded by almost 140kms in years to come as six more phases are to be implemented, making that scheme one of the most ambitious of its kind on the African continent

Although commuter rail and BRT do not quite properly connect together right now (except in the area known as Kariakoo where BRT Gerezani terminal and TRC line Kamara train station stand within relatively short walking distance from one another), the expansion of the BRT system will eventually create more interchange points to provide users easy transfers between those modes of transportation
