Time capsule of a college student
I had a flashback, unlike the ones from family guy, which I was watching instead of writing this, this flashback took me back to a project I did last year. A very similar project where I had to take a series of pictures. it consists of taking pictures of the same subject at different places in town, the catch was we had to do it on a film camera. if you don't know by now, I love film I was hoping we were going to delve into the subject at Algonquin, but I don't think that will be the case. so, to represent my love for film photography I tried to replicate it. I first took picture of my old negatives, and I edited them to look like polaroid pictures. then I went around town, and I asked my girlfriend to put her hair in her face like the girl from ringu crawling out of the tv to which she replied not again. and I went ahead and took the same pictures as my film project but on a dslr camera, I edited those to look like a negative. Then I took close ups of my old films, but I edited them to look inverted, that's to say they look like how a film would print on a sheet of paper. I went on with taking more pictures of my girlfriend and the old films and made them look like polaroid prints. the editing process was pretty straight forward, the goal of editing my pictures to make them look old was to give a sort of time capsule effect. pictures taken on a dslr Nikon d40, made to look like they were taken back in the early and late 20th century. I wanted to make my series on film at first, but unfortunately, I don't have a dark room to develop the film.so I tried working with what I had, while trying to keep the film photography effect. I didn't learn much about my subject to be honest other than the fact she doesn't like me taking picture of her looking like the grudge.
