figure-ground reversal: being able to see that what's important isn't the thing in front of your face, but what's actually in the background
Round 1:
I chose different interpretations of a foreground object that is blurred while a background object is in-focus. A basket of oranges with the basket being in-focus and the fruit being out-of-focus. A blurry, fuzzy caterpillar out-of-focus with a leaf in-focus. Then, to mirror the shapes of the hero illustration, a blurry block shape in front of an in-focus shape.
Round 2:
Now that we knew our flower shape was king, everything fell into place.
