City of Manila
Reflecting modernity while honouring tradition

Manila is the home city of my mother. Manila’s current seal originates from the 16th century and is still used for signage and posters to this day. The city was in need of a brand system that reflected modern lifestyle while still honouring tradition.

Through an iterative approach, receiving feedback from Manila locals and relatives, a logo utilising the sun was chosen. The fractal array harkens to stained-glass windows honouring the strong presence of Catholicism, while still providing an edge of modernity.

The colour scheme of yellow, blue and finally red as an accent colour honoured the colours of the Filipino flag.
