Danish Loft Design

Danish Loft
Hello! This is my first project from my Sophomore fall semester. We were given a five story building in Philadelphia. This building was split into two parts: a loft for a family of three from Denmark and a restaurant owned by the aforementioned family. This loft was inspired by danish design for a danish family consisting of a man, his mother and his seven year old daughter. I used white and light colored wood to reflect the natural light, and bright pops of color to bring energy into the space. I used large graphic rugs to warm the space and because Denmark is well known for their bold graphic prints. I used distorted glass to replace the very top of the walls in order to let natural light into rooms with no windows. The design is, as always, ADA accessible and all drawings were hand drafted and rendered by myself.
The floating metal staircase to the fifth floor rises above part of the kitchen. To prevent dirt from falling from the stairs onto the kitchen, the risers have glass bolted on every open side to catch dirt.
My kitchen elevation. All the light blue areas represent glass that keeps dirt from entering the kitchen.
Display elevation above the kitchen, viewed from the fifth floor.
Perspective of the dining and living rooms.
Hallway and master bedroom perspective.
