I was out kayaking in Avila (Port San Luis Bay), CA, and a couple humpback whales came into the bay to feed. A lot of my photos have motion blur, as I should have had a faster shutter speed, shooting an 80-200 zoom, from a rocking kayak - live and learn.
It was an interesting experience. sometimes the water started churning around my kayak, and I could tell a whale passed under me, but I couldn't see it. I had two whales come up about 9 feet in front of me. I had to quickly back row, as not to hit them.
The following day, two women were in a kayak and a whale came up to feed and they got caught in it's mouth. There are videos of this on the web.
