TELEMEDICINE - MEDICARE

TELEMEDICINE
The industry for telemedicine is expected to grow quickly in the coming years with the rise of the global pandemic of the COVID-19, patients and doctors are opening up to the concept of remote treatment, especially in Africa. This app aims to be a part of this growth by creating a seamless and faster way for patients to interact with doctors.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The aim of this project was to create an experience that allows patients to connect with the best available doctors in their region to attend to their medical needs. Creating a seamless experience for booking appointments with a doctor digitally, and any other medical request.
RESEARCH
- Survey:- Healthcare is a broad topic, to tackle this, I first conducted an open-ended survey followed by a close-ended survey. I created a survey with 10 users.

- Interview:- To get some qualitative insights on problems with using the Internet for finding best doctor I ran interviews focusing on user’s needs. In order to understand what the users want I conducted 10 user interviews.
USER ANALYSIS
From the user analysis gathered, here are a few of the pain points that I came across:
1. The waiting time to see a doctor

2. Patients also prefer discussing personal and private issues over the phone to get over the shyness of facing the doctor in the office.

3. Patients would like if they could book and get reminders for appointments with doctors and specialist.

4. Most users seek recommendations from friends & families first, followed by ratings and views.

5. Rescheduling appointment to another time is hard.
The most important motive of the app was to provide an easy way for patients to book appointments.
WIREFRAME/LOW FIDELITY
I had first prepared paper Lo-Fi which helped me get a basic idea of what I want in my designs. Post that, I designed Low fidelity wireframes based on the User Flow. I took me a couple of days to design 25 screens. Here’s where i put my ideas together coming up with a design suitable enough to carry the totality of the project from start to finish.
MAIN FRAME/HIGH FIDELITY
Testing and Iterations
I tested the high fidelity prototype with 3 users. The users had to perform the main objectives of this app effortlessly.

- Book an appointment with a particular doctor within a given time.

- See details of appointment and cancelling the appointment.

The users were all successful in performing both tasks resulting in a conclusion that the app has handled all users pain points.
TYPOGRAPHY AND COLOR
I went ahead to make the final screens choosing blue with color code “#0040DD” as the primary color since blue is heavily associated with calmness and it also symbolizes stability, inspiration, or health. I also made the color relatively bright and saturated to evoke a sense of freshness and modernity.
For the Typography i decided to go with “GT Walsheim Pro” thoughout the project making use of Bold, Medium and Regular

CONCLUSIONS
In today’s fast paced digital world, hospitals and clinics continue to improve their patient experience using high-level and easy-to-use software solutions like EMR. Implementing a Medical Video Consulting system will help to improve efficiency, work-life routine, and capture more patients as well as remaining competitive in the healthcare market. It’s a great alternative to queue system and appointment on call system.

Medicare app will provide an easy and effective experience for connecting with best doctors nearby to patients. Not only can it provide patients with self-scheduling options, but it will also send automatic reminders to never miss the upcoming appointments and have a feeling that a medical practitioner is only a call away..
