Annaloucah is delighted to announce her second collection for Livia Firth and the ‘Green Carpet Challenge’.

Now in its second year the ‘Green Carpet Challenge’ which runs on Vogue.com was devised by Livia and journalist, Lucy Siegle in an effort to see if Livia could wear only ethically sourced fashion and jewellery while she accompanies her husband Colin Firth though the film industry awards season.

When Colin won his first Oscar for his role in ‘The Kings Speech’ on Sunday 27th Feb, Livia was wearing jewellery created especially for her by collaboration between designer goldsmith Annaloucah and CRED Jewellery.
Cred have long championed the campaign for Fairtrade gold. Their work with the Oro Verde mine in Columbia makes the jewellery Livia wore on that special night the first in the world to be hallmarked as Fairtrade Fairmined Ecological gold.

Fairtrade Fairmined Ecological gold means that along with delivering improvements in the working conditions of the miners and a 10% premium as a Fair trade standard, the gold is also mined under strict environmental management with miners receiving an additional 5% ecological premium to ensure no harmful chemicals are used during the metal extraction.
After that triumphant evening the best was still to come when at a charity auction in March the worlds first Fairtrade Fairmined Ecological gold jewellery went under the hammer. 'The Old Curiosity Shop' event saw Selfridges carpark transformed into a magical setting and Annaloucah's jewellery become the highest value Fairtrade product ever sold raising £25,000 for Oxfam.
Sold to an anonymous telephone bidder, the pieces where named after Juana Pena Endova, the female Bolivian gold miner who brought the first bar of Fairtrade Fairmined gold to London for the launch of Fairtrade Fairmined gold in February 2011. Created with 18ct White gold from the OroVerde mines in Colombia the ‘Juana’ pieces where set with over 35 cts of ethically sourced aquamarine from the Lundazi  community owned mine in Zambia and Jeweltree diamonds from a women’s mining cooperative in Lesotho, South Africa.
Annaloucah has since further collaborated with CRED Jewellery to produce a diffusion collection based on the 'Juana' design. Images of this collaboration can be viewed below and are available for purchase from CRED's Chichester boutique or directly from Annaloucah's website http://www.annaloucah.com/jewelleryshop/catwww.annaloucah.com
