Book Design | The Power of Graphic Elements

What if your Bachelor's
dissertation became a book?

Well, it might as well be!
My final project at college was about Editorial Design and how graphic elements affect the narrative. So this question asked by one of my friends made perfect sense.

My work analyzes hybrid novels—the ones in which the graphic elements are intrinsic to the narrative. My goal was to understand how those elements add value to the visual identity of a book and also help tell the story, having the study of Sadokierski (2010) as a reference. With my dissertation, it was possible to understand that the graphic elements in each novel I studied play a role stronger than the primary text itself, providing the reader with a unique reading experience.

We do choose a book for its cover, so it must be attractive, and it needs to connect with the reader, reflecting the content of the book. For my project, I chose a strong and bold typography for the title "The Power of Graphic Elements in Building the Narrative", while the subtitle "Books That Tell and Spell" appears debossed—a graphic element, not only pure text.

If you want to know more, I'll be writing about books and hybrid novels here! ;)

Thank you!
