A book design for designers (especially design students) in order to memorize all design language in a fun way. Designers need to be familiar with design language and words in order to be succesful designers.
The concept of the book is Potion. Students will have to follow the rules inside the potion book to make a potion, and magically make them memorize all the content inside the book. The rules are simple and understandable, by using ingredients and tools which provided in the wooden box that is also included with the book.
The required steps are divided into 4 steps. These 4 steps are the main steps to be a good designer.
They will be presented and designed in symbols:
1. Ideas
2. Coordination
3. Communication
4. Ethics
All of the design and production were made by hand, including the box, which had to be cut and paste together to be the size as desired. It was also polished by dark brown paint. The bowl and magic stick were made using paper mould. Each illustration is also hand-drawn and scanned.
Experimented with different textures, volume and weight of papers, layout ideas, types of illustration, to reach the best end results. The texture of each page were made from coffee stains, ink and fire in order to create the textured feeling of ‘dark and magical’.
The book itself has a dark brown leather jacket to protect itself and yet to portray the ‘magical’ feeling.
