Children's Book Style Replication

Final Image
This was a 3D modeling project that required me to create a scene of a children’s storybook in Autodesk Maya. I was to duplicate the art direction of the book while taking an artistic license to create a new scene that could potentially fit into the book. Through this project I demonstrated both my modeling capabilities using the Maya program, and my aptitude to be creative.

Close up of Snowman (Fully textured and litten)

Black and white, single light source image
Lighting Rig; The scene was litten with a directional light pointing at a giant sphere. The sphere acted as a reflective panel that bounced off it's surface creating a nice soft light. The sun was a seperate sphere, textured to look as if it was lighting the scene.
Fully modeled and light rig complete
Texturing: Instead of texturing every individual object in the scene to create a colored pencil like style, I simply threw a translucent panel in front of the camera and colored it with a colored pencil like brush, imitating the color pencil look present in the book.
