BLUE JEANS

Creating something commercial from something personal. Blue Jeans was inspired by my personal heritage of strong western females who moved from the rural life of Southern Utah to the Bay Area of California. Blue Jeans, is a conceptual fashion series which explores the trend behind fabrics to integrate elastic into materials to crate a modern twist on everyones favorite pair of pants that helped shape the Wild Wild West.
Inspiration for the narrative of this series was created with the influence from other artists who master their craft. As a western theme it was fitting to pull from amazing painters who have depicted the American cowboy and cowgirl so well and raised their iconic status and level in history.

A personal favorite painter is Arnold Friberg who I had the chance to hear give an artist talk as a teenager and didn’t realize how much I would reflect on his work throughout my life.  Mark Maggiori (@markmaggioiri) for his depiction of clouds and his use of color to elevate the mood and scene to create that true iconic painted image of the Wild West. Albert Bierstadt and his use of light to craft depth and emotion in his landscapes and Bill Anton (@billantonstudio) who remarkably depicts the lifestyle and moment in his paintings that portrays not only the hero but the humble hand in their work and everyday life.
