Journalistic Illustration: Butcher

These pieces were part of an assignment for Journalistic Illustration class that required a series of illustrations that looked into a certain profession. I chose the job of a butcher.

For research and reference photo gathering, I found a local meat shop called Skips On the Ridge in Rochester, NY. After calling them and asking for permission to get a behind-the-scenes look at their butcher work, I went over and observed the well kept large equipment, array of knives, and organization of their meats. I also found that their butchers were relatable, young men in their twenties, and it was nice to see, since my initial vision of a typical butcher would be an older, unfriendly man.
Thank you very much for checking out this project. I encourage you to look at my other projects as well. I appreciate any feedback.
