Zigbee Communication(API) for CSULB rocket vehicle

Zigbee communication in API mode

This project aims to achieve communication between two Zigbee (Zigbee) devices over a
wireless channel in both AT mode (Command mode) and Application Programming Interface
(API) mode with the aid of custom made GUI crafted in C#.NET. API communication will be
utilized by California Launch Vehicle Education Initiative (MAE Projects) to transmit values
recorded by sensors strategically placed on the rocket to the base station. The XBee Pro Series 2
end device seeks to talk to XBee Pro Series 2 coordinator.


In a nut shell, the custom GUI is not a replacement for X-CTU but an ally which aids it to do
tasks that are onerous and cumbersome in the X-CTU. It is necessary to use the X-CTU for
flashing the firmware into the Zigbee devices and for un-bricking or bootloading into it. Custom
GUI simplifies the task to communicating with the GUI in both modes by transferring mundane
tasks to the applications. This work forms the foundation of API mode Zigbee communication
between the sensor mesh situated in the launch vehicles and the base station; it has established
