Valves of Dubai Mobility
The interactive data visualization to research of mobility patterns in Dubai influenced by its two major “valves”– Dubai International Airport and Dubai Mall.
The research is based on data provided by Etisalat, a multinational UAE based telecommunications services provider.

My rolls are data visualization concept, design lead, visual programming
The installation consisted of two screens: the primary data visualization screen and the second control screen with a touch interface. A user could select between exploratory and presentation modes.

The data visualization concept is based on the idea that for better analytical interpretation of complex data, such as people's movements, we must interpret it to different visualization layers. Each visual layer has to highlight specific properties of the data. Switching between or displaying them simultaneously allows for building knowledge about movement patterns.

Also, data can be filtered by the most number of features (after anonymization) and create a comparison between two filtered data selections.

The installation consisted of two screens: the leading data visualization and the control touch screen. A user could select between exploratory and presentation modes. Data was interpreted into three visualization layers exposing specific features to open up the complexity of mobility. In addition, filtering by many options and switching between layers allow for new findings.

The exploratory mode
The mode allows to research space-time patterns via visualization with full control by the control screen. The visualization contain three visual layers that has unique mechanic: motion real-time, concentration real-time, and concentration by hours.
The presentation mode.
It shows insights. A user can surf troughs the list of statements. Each statements combine text, charts and a visualization state which specifically filtered, and has specific set if data layers and point of view.
The control screen for managing of data visualization
The interface allows to:
1. switch between exploratory and presentation modes,
2. filter data,
3. comparison space-time patterns via two filter collections that allows to simultaneously displaying of two independent set of colored particles,
4. select time-range and control of playback,
5. select data visualization layers,
6.manage presentation mode and switch between insights,
7. control point of view.
