Gaggenau: A Statement of Form during the Milan Design Week 2022
Dezeen partnered with Gaggenau to host a series of talks at the luxury kitchen brand’s showcase at Villa Necchi during Milan design week 2022.

Dezeen [the most popular and influential architecture, interior and design magazine in the world] with Gaggenau [luxury kitchen brand] presented a series of conferences, in the fantastic and exclusive location of Villa Necchi Campiglio, on “A Statement of Form” during the Milan Design Week 2022. A formal statement attesting Gaggenau’s dedication to craftsmanship, heritage and high performance.
Villa Necchi, completed in 1935 by the famous architect Piero Portaluppi, the Art Deco style villa has been further polished over time, giving the interiors a classic and elegant look. Today it belongs to the Fondo Ambiente Italiano, avant-garde and traditional model, just like Gaggenau.

The experience involved the marble expert Salvatore, the master potter Kaufmann and the three Michelin star chef Christian Jürgens. The cutting-edge design, the use of raw materials, and innovative features have been able to ignite and awaken the professional curiosity of those present.
On the occasion of the installation, important figures from the sector took part. The magnificent sculptural elements bear witness to the sublimation of the material, from raw materials to design masterpieces. As Gabriele Salvatori himself said, each piece is unique and has a precious soul that deserves respect, which is why it requires careful design and the realization of the highest level of craftsmanship.

The event was moderated by Dezeen Contributing Editor Amy Frearson. Dezeen spoke to designer Sõren Rose, BIG’s Interior Director Francesca Portesine, and to Foster + Partners, head of industrial design Mike Holland, about sustainability and longevity in design.
