PROCESS
CREATING AN ILLUSTRATED POSTER

Here is a brief look at the process of creating an illustrated poster for personal work.
A dreadlocked warrior, strong, who fights with all his might. But only for peace and through music. From there came the idea of subverting the nature of the character O Predador, bringing Cannibal, lead singer of the brazilian Punk Rock Hardcore band Devotos do Ódio, dressed in the biotechnological armor of the Yautjas, but with some very important differences. Instead of using his guns and claws, here his shoulder cannon gives way to a microphone, which he uses to spread messages of peace and fight violence and social inequality.
1. SKETCHES
Finding references to The Predator franchise wasn't that difficult. It was one of the first blockbusters I watched with my father and as a fan, I have the dvds in my personal collection. As Cannibal is a singer, most of his images available on internet search are of concerts, singing and with the microphone covering part of his face, I had to draw imagining what it would be like. I made some sketches with pencil and paper, photographed my favorite and then continued the process in Procreate.
2. TIME-LAPSE

Below you can watch a time-lapse video of the process, from the sketch to the final artwork exported from Procreate. This video is also available on Cannibal's youtube channel.

4. APPLICATION SUGGESTIONS

After finishing the poster, I thought about the applications for this illustration. As it is a singer portrayed as a character from a movie and comic book franchise, I made some adaptations such as: comic book cover, movie poster, blu-ray disc cover and media disc, billboard, bus stop ads and vinyl record cover.
