“Somehow appreciation has to do with a connection with the cosmos, with time, with history & the future with feeling, with caring about the world about the relationship with man and nature.” -Tangram
This thesis explores the social ties that exist between individuals in their natural and built environments. The senses, which affect attitudes and behaviors, are the gateways through which individuals interpret their surroundings. Architecture, or the design of one's physical surroundings, significantly shapes these impressions.
The primary function of architecture is to provide shelter; but it has a profound impact on the development of inhabitants and civilizations, as well as on the environment. Simply put, it must offer more than just shelter, as social, individual, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual demands must all be addressed by architecture. Between them are the desires for society and engagement with the natural and constructed environments.
Architecture should forge a relationship between people and nature, an intuitive bond that has lost its lustre in modern civilization.
Customer experience, as well as visual design, are two factors that project designers need to consider before beginning any project that communicates with people and for people. If such concerns are not treated seriously and ignored during the design of these architectural projects, we will have projects which incur losses and underperform due to a major difficulty in establishing effective language with its potential customers; for example, individuals being unable to spot their vehicles in an auto park, having trouble finding one ‘s public transport and guests entering the wrong patients' rooms.
