TYPOGRAPHY PROYECT: BODONI
Bodoni Book MT Std
It was first designed by Giambattisa Bodoni in 1798 and is generally considered a "transitional" typeface. Bodoni was a prolific type designer, and this particular font was heavily influenced by the work of John Baskerville, a designer whose work Bodoni followed. The font, with its highly recognizable centered “Q” tail and slight “J” hook was widely accepted by printers and can be seen in a variety of late 18th century publications and applications.
Bodoni™ is considered a series of serif typefaces with a long history interpreted by many designers. Different font styles began with Bodoni's original Didone modern font in the late 18th century through the ATF revival in the US in the early 20th century and into the digital age.
One of the first publications to use Bodoni was Dante's La Vita Nuova in 1925. An excellent example of Bodoni's design prowess is Chauncey H. Griffin's Bodoni™ poster, used in signs, neon lights, and most recognizable in the Mama Mia movie and theater poster. as well as the Black Dahlia movie poster.
In advertising, Bodoni has been used in many logos due to its vintage style, including Guerlain, Elizabeth Arden, Giorgio Armani, and Calvin Klein's classic "CK". In magazine publishing, icons like Harper's Bazzar and the classical architecture magazine Metropolis use Bodoni as their base font. Also, Elle magazine used it for the logo and title.
In this time I use Bodoni as my inspiration for  this proyect, I has a brainstorm before to get the finally design of my poster. In this image you can find some of my ideas.
Latter, I chose this model and I was trying some change color.
This is my final proyect. I called: "Bodoni-8-night".
I hope you liked it.
Thanks
Ricardo Gonzales.
