This puzzle game that I helped create with a group of four during 2021, was a project to produce a puzzle game set in various fictional or real places using four different themes to base the look of the game off.

My group decided on creating a puzzle game set in Ancient Greece utilizing a fictional twang to it akin to Assassins Creed Odyssey, my role in the game was to come up with one puzzle, create textures, import assets and create the field where the player would go to complete the puzzle. Naturally one of my responsibilities was also to create the lighting and tone of the game. The look of the game is also more towards a cartoonish non-realism style, this was done to save time and to reduce render times. Certain lights were baked but a majority in real-time.
In Greece in particular you get rocky mountains, dry fields and tiny bushes and grass during summer where the hue is often an orange tone spliced in.
Starting off with the basics of which types of lights, I used a  Directional Light, height fog, post-processing, sky atmosphere, skylight and a sphere reflection capture for better reflections. I Implemented atmosphere sunlight to better set the tone of the position of the light to where the sun was, I also enabled distance field shadows so that objects further away had more detail to them, but lowered the strength so as to not affect the frames too much. I also added light shaft occlusion but kept it to a minimum since there were few places where god rays would protrude.

I utilised the post-processing to affect the min and max brightness levels. To also make the viewer be able to see where they had to go, I tried to control the levels of orange so as to not blind the player or confuse the player. That is why the scene has a more naturalistic vibe to it.
To further increase the orange tint I added an orange colour tint to the bloom. For the skylight, I added an HDR to increase the orange hue of the scene as much as possible.
