The Home Gym, a 2022 Fitness Trend

A retired chief master sergeant from Omaha, Nebraska, Sergeant Roy Bowser Jr. has been a claims adjuster since leaving the military. Outside of work, Sergeant Roy Bowser Jr. enjoys fitness.
The home gym has become an increasing trend in the fitness industry. A December 2021 article written in the online publication, The List, predicted that the home gym would still remain popular even as gyms reopen after the pandemic. In fact, a March 2022 article from the Global Health and Fitness Association (IHRSA) supports more people relying on the home gym. According to retail analysts Randy Konik, even with the demand for gyms, the demand for home gyms will remain strong as well.
More importantly, technology will play an integral role in creating these fitness spaces. Peloton (virtual coach), stationary bikes, and treadmills are being used for individual and family exercise.
The List article also goes on to mention that this trend might be related to people practicing self-care. Brady Dougherty, a physical trainer, stated that creating a home gym is similar to getting a massage or going for their annual physical. It is an investment in personal health.
