“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will” (Proverbs 21:1)
God, in His power and sovereign will, allowed governance all throughout humanity's journey. We have seen how God carried out the story of His redemption for His people under the many forms and different characters of governance, of kings, and rulers. From Pharaoh’s, to kings making statues of their own, to the murderous Herod, the cruxifiction from the Roman empire, and cruelty of Nero to the early church and apostles, we have seen the Christian faith flourished and be brought to this age. The Gospel of Jesus does not depend on any kind of governance for its existence and power. He reigns over it. He is in control. And on the day He comes to establish His eternal kingdom with His people, every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord.
With today's new governance in the Philippines, Jesus is still our only hope. He is always in control. Whoever we have voted for, our calling and participation now is to submit in truth and pray for our new president and the whole government. Let’s pray that this governance will encounter the Risen Savior and will lead in service to Him and for His people with integrity and wisdom. This governance will never be perfect. But our God is.
Jesus Reigns.
