In the year 2020, Covid-19 brought the whole world to a standstill. With all that was and wasn’t expected, being stuck at home for months on had horrifying repercussions on many. It breathed new life to an already existing, yet foolishly ignored, pandemic: domestic violence/abuse. Sri Lanka recorded an alarming surge in this regard, and with extended lockdowns, daily abuse was soon becoming part of the new normal.
On the 21st of June, we were entrusted with the task of developing a PSA to celebrate World Father’s Day. This occasion deemed worthy, to shed light on this frightening matter - to celebrate by standing against the abusive ones.
