In the summer of 2021, during a trip to western Canada, we were transported to the crossroads between nature and culture. Calm reigns. The great spectacle of the stoic and the living unfolds continuously, before our eyes and our lenses. Between Vancouver and Calgary. Between lakes and mountains. Between forests and deserts. Time seems frozen.

The fires of the past few weeks have left a hypnotic veil over the entire region. Our senses are on alert. It is in Kamloops that we are the most taken aback. The weight of memory is added to the smell of flames. We sail between sadness and wonder. Very quickly, nature called us to order. The power of the elements draws our itinerary. Water, powerful, elusive, furrows and punctuates the landscape. Earth, generous, arid, sculpts the horizon. Stone, eternal monarch, crowns the landscapes. And very quickly, time runs out. The days go by, giving way to the sweet bitterness of a journey coming to its end.

Once back, we look at our pictures. The desire not to forget is strong. By reversing the temporality or the angle of an image, we invite our senses to be attentive. To watch again. This video is a modest tribute, filled with humility, to this fragile and wild nature.
