The aim of this project was to create a poster for Melanie Martinez’s After School Tour here in Indiana at the Murat Theatre. Aesthetically, the poster has the same elements of duality as her music, an upbeat song with dark lyrics. The pastel pink color palette reflects Melanie’s signature style of pastel or neutral colors when it comes to her album covers and outfits. The imagery in the poster is representing her music’s soft side with a soft serve ice cream cone and the dark messages in her lyrics with an eye awakening in the frozen treat. The typography used for “Melanie Martinez”- Edda Narrow- was inspired by Art Nouveau’s Alphonse Mucha as he is known for his revolutionary style, much like Melanie Martinez. Paired with the Edda Narrow typeface is the bolder, stiffer sans serif font Bebas Neue for critical information.
