Drafter AI is an innovative, all-in-one no-code platform designed to enable business users to build custom AI tools rapidly, significantly decreasing application development time from months to days.

Design goal was to make it easy for business users to create AI applications with a no-code builder and an output designer. Its unique attribute lies in its user-friendliness, enabling even those with minimal knowledge in AI and development to build applications.
Research
Preliminary design ideas evolved through intensive market research. Our team conducted 42 customer discovery interviews to understand user needs, preferences, and pain points, ensuring that the platform addresses real market problems.

Design process
We started with adapting flow-building best practices. We prioritized high-level over detailed configuration capabilities, simplicity and ease of use to ensure even non-technical users could navigate comfortably through the platform.
We started with adapting flow-building best practices. We prioritized high-level over detailed configuration capabilities, simplicity and ease of use to ensure even non-technical users could navigate comfortably through the platform.
A primary focus was the UI/UX design, to make technical things as obvious as possible for business users. The layout and design elements were meticulously planned to ensure the platform was user-friendly and required minimal manual intervention or training.
The final design of Drafter AI presented a comprehensive, easy-to-use platform that highly resonated with the initial design objectives. A user, with minimal knowledge about development or AI/ML, could navigate and build applications themselves.
From onboarding perspectives, I've designed in-app tips and guidelines as well as clickable training walkthroughs.
To ensure users don't start from scratch, we provided them with a plenty of pre-made AI tools and templates, to let them figure out basic things first before diving deeper into building capabilities and customization.

Results
Drafter AI underwent several rounds of testing and feedback sessions (150 in total).
The product proved to be a success as 30% of users who had almost no knowledge about development or AI/ML could build their own applications without any extensive training and manual onboarding processes.

Lessons Learned
The process highlighted the importance of finding a healthy balance between extended product abilities and ease of use. We decided to process automatically most of AI-related things instead of forcing business users to make in-depth configuration decisions on their own.
In general, the design journey of Drafter AI was an intricate balance between advanced AI technology and user-centric design.
The platform successfully proved its effectiveness by empowering users to build applications themselves, even with zero development or AI/ML knowledge.
