Mad Men Playing Cards

Design Brief
Design a series of playing cards. 15 Fronts, 1 Back.

My Concept
For this concept, I decided to play with the identity of the widely popular television show, Mad Men. I was inspired by the show's opening title sequence and thought it would be an appropriate subject for a deck of cards.

The silhouettes within this sequence inspired the face cards. Don Draper is the King because he reigns over all in the advertising world, Roger Sterling is the Jack because he is the king’s right-hand man, and Joan Harris is Queen due to her command over the office and ability to keep order in chaos. The box front was inspired by the falling figure within the shows’ opening sequence. The color palette and moray pattern were taken from my research of advertisements in the 60s. The distressed texture gives age to the cards suggesting they were produced during the Mad Men era.
