Meredith Wheelock's profile

Competitve Scholarship 2014

Artist Statement:
I have dreams to become a medical illustrator and an art teacher. I intend for my art to have a visual impact, focusing mainly on dark subjects. I have always admired Leonardo Da Vinci's Sketchbooks, particularly his anatomical studies. My artwork has been influenced by the linear techniques of his work. Additionally, I am fascinated with human behavior and wanted to create a study based upon human morality. My life experiences have impacted my artwork and the underlying ideas I wish to communicate. I am a student at the Maryland Institute College of Art developing my technical art skills with a particular interest in mastering the medium of pen and ink and illustration. I am very grateful to have this talent and am able to express my thoughts and concepts to everyone through my art.
