Project Summary
Arno is a full stainless steel body water purifier that fulfills the needs of you and your family members. In the time of Corona, its sensor based technology prevents you from touching anything manually. It gives you 3 types of water. Hot, Cold and Ambient.
Double Diamond Design Process
I used the double diamond design approach to tackle the outline problem. This framework combines with market research, ideation, form exploration and visualization.
This project present the design process though ideation, prototyping and testing.
Why Arno?
The idea was to build a sustainable water purification and dispensing unit. Which gives you the fresh water to drink. Its sensor based dispensing system keeps you safe from germs. It gives you 3 types of water. Hot, Cold and Ambient. Its minimalist and compact design goes well with any interior.
Current Market
The product in stainless steel body is very less available in the market. And if it is, it is quite bulky. To analyze and compare the current options available in water dispenser section I watched all the available products in the market carefully.
To gain an insight into each products, I conducted primary research with people near me who used such type of water dispenser.
Design Direction
After doing a lot of primary and secondary research, I came to know about the market gap. 90% of our people here still uses plastic purifiers and bottles. Then I thought of making my design in stainless steel. This is our small effort towards saving our environment. Our design will be very minimal and compact.
Design Language And Inspiration
The main priority for this product design language is to highlights touch points through deliberate material, form and texture choice.
Ideation
Many concepts where generated to explore further into the identified touchpoints. I considered a variety or forms and style based on the mood board and design language outlined previously.
The key area for investigation was creating a user friendly, heavy duty and high end feature product which is average in cost. The concepts where all 3D modeled with user in mind, making sure the design is uncomplicated and self-explanatory.
CAD (3D software)
We made the design in 3D based on the ideation earlier. All CAD models is made in 1:1 scale.
