Project Statement:
The challenge was to create a short fictional film trailer of myself. My submission features me and my partner at a family gathering. My love for horror films inspired me to create a dramatization of the event from my point of view. The video was produced during Christmas and it was my partner's first time meeting my family. I was terrified. The head in the basement is a metaphor for all my imperfections I was afraid about him finding out. The ghost girl is essentially the personification of my fears. I decided to use the first-person perspective to create a sense of tension and suspense. Additionally, I attempted to create a strong contrast between the feeling of Christmas where things are warm, happy and loving. With the dark and ominous vibe of horror films when descending into the basement. These elements help attract the attention of the audience to help drive the narrative of a good holiday vacation gone awry.
