Gentrification On The Themes
Recce Shoot 1
I live in Chatham. It's not on the Themes however it is going through major gentrification. With this I thought to explore with my camera moving my way from the town centre all the way to Old Rochester Road. With the booming housing prices of London, people often have to make their way elsewhere to find affordable properties, this is where Kent comes in. The amount of "Londoners" who have made their way to the old towns of England have almost tripled in the past 30 years, leaving very little property left to buy.
Chatham's been heavily upgraded in the process, welcoming new high-rise apartments and hipster coffee shops where it costs yous £14 for coffee and toast.
This therefore leaves a large gap in the community as many older and family businesses are having to shut their doors.

Ernst Haas

The photos Haas made throughout this series is something I would like to replicate throughout my work. His bold use of colour and the framing ever so slightly off-centered creates a definitive style throughout his book.

On the subject of pursuing a newspaper, I decided to look up photozines on Behance and found the piece of work by alessio borando.
Photo Book wise I explored the Photo Book, 'Forever' by Saul Leiter. His work was mostly unsung in his time however many of his photos from the 80's have been in the spotlight in many photo galleries around the World.
