Commedia Dell'Aesop Theatrical Poster

This project focused on a theatrical poster for Aesop's Fables in the style of Commedia Dell'Arte—Commedia Dell'Aesop.

Aesop's Fables refer to a large collection of classic allegorical stories we all know such as the Tortoise and the Hare. The classic Italian theatrical form popular in the 16th and 18th century, Commedia Dell'Arte, is characterized by improvised dialogue between a familiar cast of stock characters wearing masks.
A simple, rough illustration of a wolf laughing sums up the deceptively esoteric concept of the play which has no pre-written script.
"Commedia Dell" and "Aesop" were hand-written in different styles so that someone who is not familiar with either aspect will be able to infer that this is a play combining two different concepts.
