Winners of the Furniture and Interiorism Contest of Kutxa Ekogunea in cooperation with the architect Edorta Subijana.
The proposal Urtaroak parts of the need of giving to the future Kutxa Ekogunea center a distinctive and coherent interior setting. The typological diversity of built elements relating that center complicates this intention of understanding it as an unique building. Therefore, it consists in creating strategies to weave a single system, both physically and conceptually. In our approach, due to the special condition of resolving those spaces, with elements halfway between interior and exterior, we understand that the pavement has an enormous potential to bust barriers and connect interiors and exteriors, new constructions and pre-existence…
In order to enhance the physical bonding that provides continuity on the pavement we have tried to add a conceptual link between spaces. A thread that is just an excuse to work as naturally as possible the problem of the transitions. The seasons, or Urtaroak, are parts of a whole, with fuzzy boundaries and yet with particular characteristics and identity.

La propuesta Urtaroak parte de la necesidad de dotar al futuro centro Kutxa Ekogunea de una ambientación interior distintiva y coherente. La diversidad tipológica de los elementos edificados que componen dicho centro dificulta esa lectura única que se pretende del edificio. Se trata por lo tanto de crear estrategias que permitan tejer un sistema único, tanto física como conceptualmente. En nuestra aproximación, y dada la condición especial de espacios a medio camino entre interiores y exteriores de los elementos a resolver en concurso, entendemos que el pavimento tiene un enorme potencial para reventar barreras y conectar interior y exterior, nueva construcción y preexistencia…
Con el fin de potenciar la unión física que ofrece una continuidad en el pavimento hemos tratado de añadir un vínculo conceptual entre los espacios. Un hilo conductor que no es sino un pretexto para trabajar del modo más natural posible el problema de las transiciones. Las estaciones del año, o Urtaroak, son partes de un todo, con límites difusos y sin embargo con características e identidad particulares.
