Hospital Cart Project

A hospital cart designed with Human Factors Engineering and anthropometric considerations in mind.

This project was based on observations made in the E.R. and conversations with medical staff of the Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel
The cart's height is carefully measured to offer medical staff a comfortable working environment for extended periods of time.
It was very important for the cart to be easy to clean, and to minimize crevices where bacteria can accumulate.
Retractable trays offer a larger work area and flexibility when the cart is positioned on either side of a patient's bed. Also, being retractable, forces medical staff to clear any packaging and waste off the trays after performing procedures.
The bottom drawer, designed to hold IV fluids, is spring loaded and extends upwards towards the user to minimize the need for bending down.
The cart has improved mobility thanks to Rotacaster (TM) wheels allowing it to be maneuvered in any direction regardless of its orientation.
