ART 235 Project 03
PSA Ad Campaign
For this particular project I was asked to create a series of print ad posters that are cohesive and could be used as a Public Service Announcement (PSA) print campaign. An important topic or issue was to be chosen that could promote the topic to affect people to go and do something to help. I chose my focus to be on helping to bring more awareness for the need to help refugees through the non-profit organization "Convoy of Hope." Throughout the posters I applied the four basic principles of design (contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity) in helping to communicate the message of the ad. Below I am presenting them in various areas that an ad poster would be found in real life.
TRIO AD POSTERS
As you can see this trio of posters grabs your attention immediately with the color splashes of vibrant colors drawing you stop and look. There is alignment found across all three ad posters in the pictures, text, and logos. Contrast is found in the blue text on the white background, as well as the color splashes on each poster against the white background. Repetition between the three posters is seen with the blue text, using the Ad Council logo, and the Convoy of Hope logo. Proximity you'll find with the call to action on the right of the pictures as well as the Convoy of Hope logo with the "Find out how below" text in the bottom left corner. The title of the posters gives a strong indication to the viewer of what their hands. Looking at the pictures you now wonder what do they mean? Each poster having an invitation to use their own hands to give hope to others, how? Look closer to find out...
AD POSTER #1
This ad poster found in a restaurant invites the viewer closer to see that they too can use their hands of hope to give help to those refugees in need, get better informed of how to help refugees in need, discover what needs need to be met after a disaster of a war torn country, and that they themselves can volunteer by finding out how by following the link below the "Convoy of Hope" logo in the bottom left corner.
AD POSTER #2
This ad poster outside near a bus stop invites viewers to see what a group of people can do to be hands of hope to refugees. As the viewer comes closer to see the invitation/call to action, it invites everyone, including them to come together. As a group that comes together to show kindness, even learn a new language. As we learn different languages and volunteer our time with refugees we are coming together as many nations (thus the hands with different nationality flags on the wrists) and we make new friends. The viewer can find out how they too can be hands of hope and by doing these things following the link provided on the poster below the "Convoy of Hope" logo in the bottom left corner.
AD POSTER #3
Walking down the street one day you see this color splash and it catches your eye on the billboard below. Hands of Hope? I wonder what that means? As the you walk closer you realize it's a call to action to help the non profit organization "Convoy of Hope" in working with refugees. You realize you're being called to uplift, to give help in and even give hope by helping refugees and you wonder how. By going to the link provided on the poster below the "Convoy of Hope" logo in the bottom left corner, you can find ways you too can be the hands of hope in a refugees life today.
Here is a second example of the same poster above that is a more straight on view rather than an angled view.
In conclusion I feel the series of print ad posters would be an excellent addition to a Public Service Announcement (PSA) ad campaign. There is cohesiveness, alignment, unity, and and message that we all can be "Hands of Hope" for the Convoy of Hope non-profit helping those who are refugees in the community around us and throughout the world.
