Green zone in the heart of the dwelling, imitation of nature motifs on the floor, on the ceiling and on the walls, Iceland landscapes like the windows into another reality, keeping balance on the edge of modesty, austerity and innovation technologies… It’s a short description of this interior.

The flat is located on the 7th floor of the elite residential complex “Smolny Park” in the center of St. Petersburg. Firstly, it was duplex apartment, but later the second floor was demolished and because of that ceiling’s height varies from 3 to 4,9 m.

Our client is a 40 years old creative businessman, the owner of dashingly developing advertising agency. Our customer spends most of his time at work. More than once he told us about his desire to be close to nature but it seemed to be difficult because of constant business trips and meetings. And we decided to prove that mission is possible and to create an interior which allows being close to nature and business life at the same time.

Paying attention to client’s wishes, spaces peculiarities, components of sustainable design we tried to create open space layout. Also we made the space green and provide it with natural light. Almost all partitions were demolished. Only WC, bedroom and cabinet stood isolated. Flat’s square after redevelopment works was 196,7 sqm.

Compositional center of the flat is a green oasis created by moss landing on the floor and columns. We use the 3D-base of a biodegradable material and create an original organic carpet, gently rising from the floor to the columns.

On the ceiling we imitate tree branches using beams which were set at different angles. Some of them are provided with LED lighting.

We decorate walls and divide space by using Algue decorative elements by Vitra. Plastic elements are linked together forming weblike structure.

Iceland pictures (the favorite country of our client) have 2 functions: decoration and light thanks to the built-in wall LED lighting.

To improve dwelling aesthetic and air quality we use unique upside-down planters (Sky Planter by Boskke). It’s innovative design allows to save space, conserve water and purify air. Green pockets by Maruja Fuentes bring a soul-soothing dose of greenery and nature to the interior.

On the bedroom wall we create a stream imitation, which can be understood as a nature motif or as a source of ideas and fantasies. We used metal and wood for it. The construction is provided with LED lighting.

All window and door glazed units are made using magic screen glass – laminated glass which transparency or matt is regulated by switching on the button.
