Shape and Colour

Task 1

For my image I chose a snake. Snakes are one of my favourite animals and remind me of when I was a child and would go on camping trips with my dad. The snakes always scared me but now I think they are so beautiful and gracious.

When I first began drawing the snake outline I thought it would take a lot less time but then I realized how many little details the snake had. I ran into a bit on trouble when trying to accurately represent the snakes texture because it's so small and intricate.

Task 1 and 2 are seen below

I don't think I was able to accurately represent the snakes texture in the black and white shape drawings but as I started to add colour I was much happier with the results.

For task 2 and adding colour I experimented with adding different patterns and colours to the snake to add depth and contrast between the highlights and shadows as well as trying to show the texture on the snake.
Experimentation with line and dots
My final design is the one represented on the left but the one on the right was also a close second. I played around with colour palettes, optical illusions and shape.
