This is a project I completed in Art 252. This project best exemplifies my abilities to create and communicate content or ideas. We needed to generate a sense of vision for this project that combined picture and thought to produce meaning. I practiced collecting and developing images and mixing them with coordinating words to produce and transmit powerful ideas, becoming more natural and unexpected through meanings and planned pairings. We experimented with various objects to produce distinct marks by dipping them in ink and putting them down on our paper in different ways. Then we chose adjectives that went well with the imagery we had made.It was crucial to me to find words and concepts that were complemented by the images I created and that, when combined, clearly and forcefully represented my concept. The first word that came to mind was echo. Because my prints made with plastic teeth formed a mirror-like effect, I adopted this word. I then thought of the word reflection, and when I thought of reflection, I immediately thought of echo since sound is reflected. I used photoshop to construct the words from the print, then created marks to illustrate the echo. A plastic necklace was the source of my next print. It created a picture that resembled a terrifying creature. Because of the movement of the marks, which created something unsettling, I immediately thought of the word eerie. I used the original print to construct the text and marks as well. Both of these words, I believe, effectively convey my thoughts and concepts.
