Grand Access
Grand Access is the brainchild of James Albright.  James is a GVSU student with a disability, who uses a power wheelchair.  In the current form we have developed an Android application that will help students with disabilities locate and access usability information about points of interest (POI), like restrooms, entrances, and elevators.  While much of the world at large claims to be accessible to the disabled public, the specifications outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) fit individuals as well as a one size fits all garment.  The design goal of this product is to allow users to locate facilities which meet the specific and individual accessibility requirements they have without having to visit each facility in person.  We have accomplished this with the use of customized maps and searches which display the pertinent information upon request.  Further developments will introduce a profile to store individual specifications and display accessible and non-accessible facilities.
