I was tasked by a start up T-Shirt brand, called Dream Big Clothing Company, to create the first initial T-shirt designs. I was also asked to come up with a strapline and select a typeface for the brand, to go with the logo the company already had. These you can see below:
The brand Dream Big, is all about not giving up on your dreams in life, not settling for what you have got, but to push yourself to get that dream, and to also believe in yourself to be able to achieve it. The brand wants to get this message across, and also act as a kind of motivational brand to inspire people aged 16-25 to do this. Therefore, I came up with the strapline 'believe to achieve'. A punchy, straight to the point phrase that really sums the brand up.

To motivate people to 'Dream Big', I designed the T-Shirts to have motivational and inspirational ideas within them:
These 'Fly' t-shirts with birds pattern, are based around the idea of spreading your wings and taking a chance to fly (Just like when a bird is learning to fly). Because if you never spread your wings and take that chance you will never fly. The word 'Fly' also appeals to this target audience, as it is a common slang phrase among this group.
Later in the design process, I changed the word 'Fly' to 'Dream Big' (as you can see at the bottom of the page).
These T-shirts feature my own typography, which simply says 'Dream Big'. The sleeves include three arrow shapes. The arrows in this design are the subtle motivation to move forward with your life, keep going and don't give up until you get there.
The idea behind these 'mountain' T-shirts, is that a dream is difficult to achieve, like climbing a mountian. But don't be afraid to do it, dream big and climb that mountain until you reach the summit. You can see the end before you start, but just keep going and you will reach the summit sooner or later.
These crest T-shirts, are a kind of mantra to live by and to motivate you to 'Dream Big' and achieve that dream. I used the number 1 in it also, as the number one in spiritual / symbolic terms represents; strong will, positivity, pure energy. It represents new beginnings and starting new ventures. Arrow shapes also feature in this design,  to represent moving forwards and not letting anything stop you achieving your dream.
FRONT:

The T-shirt was based on a compass idea. Meaning you can go anywhere in life, the world is your oyster. Just choose where you want to go and which path you want to take and head in that direction until you get there. The 'No limits' phrase accompanies this. And the lines which run onto the back of the T-shirt emphasise the path to be taken.

The idea behind the 'universe' T-shirt was to really 'Dream Big', and don't be afraid to dream of something so big that other people may think it's stupid and never going to happen. After all, are those people psychics who can see into the future? No, they aren't....so go for it!
These are what the bird T-shirt turned into at the end of the design process. The word 'Fly' was changed to 'Dream Big' to emphasise the brand and it's name more. Seen as these are the first T-shirts, and it needs to get the message out.
T-SHIRT NECK TAG:
For me, as a designer, I like to go the extra mile whenever I can, for my clients. I like to put forward ideas that might make their brand stand out that bit more from the crowd and really push their brand forward. I took this, and my passion whilst designing the T-shirt graphics for Dream Big, and came up with the idea to include quotes from famous/successful people, that would speak to the target audience and motivate them to actually 'Dream Big'.
These quotes would sit on the inside of the t-shirt, just below the neck, at the front. Therefore, when the wearer of the t-shirt has it on they can look inside their t-shirt for a bit of motivation whenever they are doubting themselves or need motivating.

For each t-shirt design there would be a different quote from a different person. This would drive more sales and kind of become a collector's item or a craze to buy these t-shirts to see what the 'hidden' message is, etc.

In the future, maybe people could even customise their own t-shirts and select which quotes they want to appear on their t-shirt when ordering.

Below are the starting quotes I selected, for the first 4 t-shirt designs I created above:
