The Publisher Rowohlt asked me to illustrate the cover for the new German version of Helen Wolff's autobiographical Novel "Hintergrund für Liebe". It's the story of a young woman's emanzipation, but also a love story and a road trip to Southern France. A very joyous read!

My cover was to be a vision of summer. I wanted to bring all the joy I could into the picture with lots of sun and the mid-day calm.

So this is my illustration. The design was done in-house, not by me.

But this was only the second version. The first one looked like this:

I'm glad Rowohlt asked me to do another version. It got better I think. Agree?
