Fortune Takes Flight, 2029
Q Studio: Creative Art Direction & Design
Designed and art directed the key visuals for an indoor shopping mall installation, ‘Fortune Takes Flight’.
A collaborative effort with an events company and QStudio, displayed across a Hong Kong shopping mall, Pacific Place.
The concept was to feature as a traditional spring garden, across the mall, in celebrating Chinese New Year 2019. Butterfly kites were designed from circles, an auspicious shape, with a thick frame inspired by traditional architecture and Chinese candy boxes. The inner print patterns and colours were to be cheerful and vibrant, whilst incorporating the studio founder’s signature painting style - gestural and expressive brush strokes. The butterflies and the kites themselves symbolised rising fortune. Each of the kites were hand-embellished with brush strokes by a team of painters.
