"Maturidade Humana" is a self-help book, written by Brazlian psychologist Diogo Rogério and published under Editora Baruch.
I was commissioned to draw and design the cover art and layout, under a very personal and detailed briefing. The author wanted the illustration to be based on a picture he already uploaded on his social media lecture announcements. Along with that, he also wanted something that represented his roots, since he's born and raised in Pernambuco, a state in the Northeast Brazil region.
The use of a particular tone of blue-ish green was also requested by the author himself.

REFERENCES:
The boy leaves the bike wheels behind, representing a new chapter of life - as in the title of book "human maturity". The plants and trees are typical from the Caatinga region, in Northeastern Brazil (the map), such as macambira, juazeiro and mandacaru.

Original lineart for full cover illustration. As seen on the references above, the trees from the Caatinga were drawn over the original image with rotoscope technique. The bike wheels detail was used on the back cover. As a suggestion by the head publishing editor, the final version was painted over the Northeast region map, to give it some character.
