Instructional Design Proposal for The Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum
Student Portfolio Project for Full Sail University Instructional Design and Technology Program.
Overview
The goal of this assignment was to develop a proposal for the Osceola County Welcome Center to make exhibits more inclusive and interactive.
Problem Statement
The Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum, while rich in displays, stories, and information about the history of Osceola County, is both static and only in English. Tour guides help to bring the exhibits to life but are often not available. Some of the guides are not bilingual, so they cannot present the displays to Spanish-speaking visitors that make up a large portion of tourists and Osceola County residents.
Solution
As an instructional designer, I researched the company and develop a proposal to explain how I would weave together multi-modality, multi-platform delivery, and personalization for each exhibit. The Museum needed learner-centered displays that employ the use of the multimodal modes unique to digital media: audio, video, and interactivity.
Tools Used
For this Project I used Notion for planning & Final Cut Pro for video editing.
Retrospective
Looking back, there are multiple things I would do differently. I am not happy with the quality of the production and with more time allotted, I would have used a better camera for the recording. I also wish I would have used more b-roll, slides and images to help make the video more engaging. My biggest take away from this project is that I need to design a better system creating instructional design proposals and project management processes.
