Alienware Backpacking Challenge

2011

Alienware wanted to broaden the appeal of their brand outside of just hardcore gamers with a focus on the portability of their new 11" laptop.

Heaven Media ran the Alienware Backpacking Challenge; a bespoke campaign which saw competition winners sent backpacking across Europe. We created a dedicated microsite where the competitors had to compete in weekly challenges and vlog/blog their experiences and upload their weekly competition entries; a voting system from fans and followers of the campaign determined the weekly winner. The campaign focussed on bringing out some of the key features and uses of the M11x laptop; special offers and promotions only accessible from the microsite also ran alongside the campaign.

Alienware reported a significant increase in expected sales, with a hugely favourable return on their campaign investment; the campaign was commissioned for a second year due to the success of the inaugural competition.
My role was the creation of design and layout of the Alienware Backpacking Challenge Website, as well as creation of assets Dell and Heavenmedia could use in websites, e-mails, flags and banners.

International banner assets were used in email and on sites during Phase 2 of the contest. I worked to a set of guidelines that need to be followed and dates for the creation of the banners for Dell. These ran through Dell and Alienware's pages, as well as EsportsHeaven, HardwareHeaven, Cadred, and Tek9
Flags assets used for the contestants' checkpoints.
