About 62% of Ontario youth had reported having severe anxiety symptoms and yet, only 32% have seek professional help. The lack of information and the negative stigma surrounding anxiety have been the greatest challenges in treating anxiety. Children and youth who suffer from anxiety are often seen as just being dramatic or acting up. And despite of their cries for help, they are often not taken seriously because “that’s just how teens behave these days.” This casts a dark shadow over the terrors and effects of anxiety making it harder for them to open up and seek help.
