Indian Government’s focus on solar energy
The use of renewable energy has seen a lot of positive change in the past few years, especially the solar energy. The reason being that the world was hit by the realisation of the abundance of this energy, the limitations of other sources of energy and the growth of greenhouse gases. This has thus, led people to turn towards and focus more on this source. This led in several government reforms as well, besides being in use by the general public. A large number of people started coming across words like solar energy, solar panels, solar inverter, etc. Therefore, the solar field has been growing vigorously since then. This time can be marked from around 2014-15.
Talking about the latest solar news, the India government’s MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) on 10th March, 2021, in a list of approved models and manufactures stated, “solar PV power installations are set up for a period of 25 years and, solar PV cells and modules used in plants require long term warranty. It is thus desirable to ensure that such products are indeed made in units in which production has been claimed. It is possible that some units may claim the production of solar cells & modules produced or made elsewhere. The reliability of producer is essential to protect the consumer interests and ensure larger energy security of the country.”
The COP26 (26th Conference of Countries) that took place in October to November, 2021 too talked about the urgency of taking steps against the growth of global warming. The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi pledged to raise India’s contribution in the field of renewable energy to 50% by 2030, and completely eradicate the carbon emissions by 2070. Besides India, the other countries like Argentina, Australia, South Korea, Italy, France, etc. too pledged to fight against this common enemy- global warming.
Not many know that India stands 5th in the use of solar energy around d the globe. The Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman also announced an additional fund of Rs 19,500 in the budget for 2022-23 to boost the usage of solar field by up to 45 GW. This would help the country in bringing it closer to its pledge of COP26.
Government also offers upto 40% subsidy to promote solar energy for its more use in the agricultural filed. Therefore, this enables several advantages through solar usage. From instance, saving of electricity bills by the owners of the electricity generated by solar panel, financial gains through subsidies, saving of electricity and promotion of usage of solar, growth of the use of renewable sources, bringing India close to its goal to cut carbon emissions, etc. All of these have been the top solar news today i.e., in the present.
