Hi there,
The idea for the app came from my personal recent experience dealing with maintenance issues and my landlord. Creating the prototype from scratch for the first time was a magical feeling and though I am proud of the results, I already see a number of various shortcomings. I suspect that as I keep learning, I will become more critical of my first ever UI design, but that’s exactly the idea behind learning and improving. Tools I used for the project are: Figma and InVision.

Overview
Problem
When you rent a place, maintenance issues inevitably happen. It’s stressful and challenging for renters and landlords alike. I would like to take the complexity and stress of face to face communication in a challenging situation out of this transaction, and make the entire process predictable and transparent.
Potential User
This affects every renter and every landlord. This app will allow renters to submit a maintenance request to their landlord quickly and easily without meeting them face to face or talking to them on the phone. The landlord will be able to view the request and act on it in a timely manner.
Outcome
1. Full visibility into renter’s maintenance request (from step one submission all the way to the appointment booking by a landlord)
2. Record of history of all requests and full communications with landlords.
3. Resolving maintenance issues as quickly as possible
4. Mitigate risk of project taking too long
5. Healthy relationship between tenant and landlord
Potentially this solution can be linked to different vendors (plumbers, roofers, painters) for full visibility of the maintenance time lines, cost, etc.,
