SIA's Reclaim Project.

Winning Design of  SIA's & 686's 2010 'Reclaim Project.' A 24 hour design challenge to create an outerwear piece from scrap materials.

This men's snowboarding jacket was created out of scrap fabrics and old jacket pieces. I was inpsired by the Japanese world view 'Wabi Sabi' with an emphasis on beauty in imperfection. This is a handmade, fully functional softshell designed for the 686 male snowboarding customer. Everything was created by hand with no pattern making books or sewing instructions available.

I placed three 'fibonacci' pleats to the left of the zipper hidding pockets underneath the pleats. I used the fibonacci sequence to create the width and placement for the pleats.
